Help - need to fix cake topper on!!

Hi,

It's my sons christening tomorrow. My mother in law has made the cake and put white icing on it. I've bought a blue ribbon to go round it and a cake topper. How do I go about fixing them on? The cake topper is a 3D train made out of hard sugar icing stuff. Any tips would be gratefully received as I'm not artistic at all and have no idea about how to do this!!

Thanks,
Flis

isnt the topper heavy enough to hold itself ? if not I would mix some very thick icing mix to stick the topper on, or if you can make a couple of small holes in it without breaking it you could also put a couple of cocktail sticks in that then press into the cake.
cake ribbons just wrap it around the cake and fix with clear selotape at the back
  • If you get icing sugar and add a little bit of water to make runny icing, you can use that like glue.

If you are careful that would hold on the ribbon too. but maybe just scotch tape it or use a tiny bit of clear glue if you aren't too sure about your craftyness!!
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
