You need stong white flour and eithier wholemeal or stoneground flour,if you want to make wholemeal bread. You will find in Tesco that the flour is marked suitable for bread machines. I use their own quick rise yeast, its very good. I do not use milk in my bread, just water, and oil rather than butter, but its really a matter of choice.

I paid £99 for my Panasinic but that was a few years ago now.

I have a Panasonic too (the one with the seed dispenser), it's very good, use it all the time. Like Tootles I use water and oil and 50:50 white/wh'meal flour. I also use Doves Farm yeast rather than sachets.

I made a loaf today just using tesco value plain flour (have always used extra strong flour before) all I did was add 3/4 teaspoon of yeast instead of 1/2 teaspoon. Turned out exactly the same and at 21p a bag huge saving as strong stuff was £1.03. Well chuffed as now my original bread bill will drop by huge amounts!!

We don't use milk powder either.

If you go the mega index (sticky on the front page) and click on cooking and recipes, you will find we have a LOT of threads on breadmakers/breadmaking. Have a browse. (I'll put a link in in a moment.)
