Omigosh. Rosemary Hair Rinse. Anyone tried it?

I have an overgrown rosemary plant, so idly looked up rosemary for the hair.
Apparently, it is good for hair, and even darkens brunette hair, ideal if you want it a bit glossier/darker or even if you've just started to get a couple of grey hairs. I think it's supposed to stimulate growth too.
Tried it, and it smells heavenly. Admittedly, I wasn't too sure about the smell of the rinse, but it smells great in my hair, and I'm sitting here really chilled out!
Recipe :
Sterilise a glass jar by filling it with boiling hot water
Wander out into the garden and cut enough rosemary to fill the glass jar
Add lavender cuttings if you like that too
Rinse all cuttings
Empty jar of hot water.
Cram cuttings into jar, bruising them as you do so
... or use the end of a rolling pin to jam them in
This bruising helps release the aroma.
Fill jar of herbs with boiling water.
Close lid and leave in window sill, letting sunlight help "cook" for up to a week.
After washing hair, rinse with your homemade rosemary tea.
Do not rinse, just let air dry.
Sit there and enjoy scent.
Seems a lot cheaper than all the chemically stuff, and inadvertently comes with a spa experience too!

I think it's one of the essential oils recommended for preventing lice too. I think Indian women regularly use it as it leaves their hair glossy. All in all, sounds good.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
I wonder if they use dried rosemary, or if Indian households tend to plant rosemary in their gardens as a useful hair thing.0
-
PS. I sieved the tea before using it, to avoid interesting twiggy additions to my hair!0

Folklore tells us that a large rosemary bush in the garden means a strong woman lives in the house!
Rosemary oil is great & smells good when smoothed on the hair & scalp. Sage can also be used to 'darken' greys."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Sounds good and i have never actually thought about doing the hair thing with it even though i actually drink it as a tea because its supposed to be good for your sinuses.
I will have a go now thanks :T0 -
Use rosemary essential oil with care, especially if you've high blood pressure, best avoided in pregnancy as well.I get paid to smell great :j0
-
That sounds like good news, because I suffer from chronic low blood pressure.0

If it darkens hair I'm guessing its no good for blondes/highlights?
I drink hot water with a spring of rosemary in it as it sweetens the breath.0 -
Yes, sorry, it darkens hair. But if you're interested, then chamomile seems to have pretty much the same effect, except that it doesn't darken hair, so ideal for blondes trying not to go darker.0

If you want to go lighter, then do a chamomile and lemon rinse, then wander out to let it dry in the sun.0
