Over 60's.. Debt solution???

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and need to ask for some advice on behalf of family member(s) please..

Married couple in their 60's with approx £40k total debt. One recently paid off and so 'retired' and other still working part time. Home owners but still paying a little mortgage (included in the £40k above).

They just can't afford the monthly outgoings anymore and need a solution to end the misery...

Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated...

Could the other get a job? I'm sure others will be able to provide much more useful advice.
