Loan Direct Debit

Options
Hello all!
I have a loan with Santander (previously A&L).
I have always kept my payments up to date.
I switched my current account in February, set up the direct debit which worked once. Then Santander advised that they have system problems and I need to call them to pay by card or over the counter 2 days before the date. I missed this month as I forgot, got an arrears letter, but Santander state as they advised me that I have to ensure it is paid and if I don't they will update my credit score with a missing payment. I understand it is my responsbility but surely they need to be flexible?

Thanks
Mark

  • why do they?you owe them money its upto you to make sure they get the payments on time
cant you get another DD set up now?
  • I'm afraid I agree with John - but I'm sure the bank can get another DD set up now as it's been several months and they'll have got beyond their computer problems by now, surely? That way, you won't have to remember each month to phone them, so it's in your own best interests to contact them and get a DD mandate arranged again.
