    Thanks for your help.
    Had a solicitor a few years back, who i asked for advice re: bankrupcy, is that enough? am also planning to go back to solicitor to get the ball rolling/ask advice end of june.

    NO dont get a solicitor

    they charge you, we can help you here, just post a thread and everyone will offer advice

    i'd say that's too far back, plus surely a solicitor would charge you for advice? the debt charities i mentioned are free, and will assess your current situation. national debtline helped me over the phone, they were great

    Do check this thread for debt charities and some good information, but as curly and confused have said don't pay a solicitor x

    was getting legal aid.

    solicitor back then told me to leave my creditors to make me bankrupt, even though she knew i had no assets etc.
    i know better now.
    and more than 5 years later they haven't as there is nothing in it for them.

    i will give national debtline a call. thanks. am in scotland, so hope they cover here too.
    im moving to the isle of man in july ( end of) and dont want to take my debts with me. im not paying for the move.:o

    i just know that although very :o by situation , i need to get this sorted. and at least br gives me a chance of not worrying about debt anymore.

    solicitor back then told me to leave my creditors to make me bankrupt, even though she knew i had no assets etc.
    i know better now.
    and more than 5 years later they haven't as there is nothing in it for them.

    yes they do cover Scotland. don't be :o at least you're looking to sort it out. hope it's a fresh start for you

    I know scottish BR is different, if you scroll down on that thread I posted you will find the scottish information section and after you have spoken to someone from a Debt charity, start a new thread as we do have some Scottish posters who can help too.
