Other than trying your own bank, I can't think of anything else to try. At least they'll have a history of your income and outgoings.

Then, alas, I think you're scuppered. they're normally your best bet. Oh, and for the love of God, be VERY careful about the payday loan companies you'll see everywhere, the boards are littered with entries of woe. Especially if you're after £1000, it'll be nightmare for you. Can you not go the bank of mum and dad? Especially if it's for such a short term thing?

Then you best bet is to save....with a ccj on your file, no decent lender will touch you. The ccj will stay on your file for 6 years from the day it is issued.

I already owe the bank of mum and dad :(
basic story is that - i've won 2 tickets to go to Glastonbury. And i don't have the spending money available this month. I don't have any other outgoings bar the occasional bank charge and my £45 phone bill, and a small rent charge to mum and dad. Is a payday loan so bad?
That's what i'm thinking of doing? I know the interest is bad, but i'm thinking that i wanted to buy a ticket to go to Glastonbury anyway, so it would be that cost?

Come on....do you really need £1000 spending money for that...sell your tickets, save & go when you can afford it.

    Yes.

If you have won the tickets then why do you need £1000?

You earn over £21K, very little outgoings, what the hell are you doing with your money???

So you have an income of around £1500 a month and outgoings of (i'm guessing) £100 and you need £1000 spending money? At the risk of sounding rude you seem to be on a slippery slope.

no, max £1000 - i was giving a ballpark figure. I only need £200 spending. I've literally just finished paying off all the debt that my ex and I ran up. Hence the CCJs and bad credit rating. That's where my money has been going. i've now come out of that, but i've not built up good credit yet. Can't sell the tickets, because you can't change the name. I understand that pay day loans aren't great, but for a one off?
