Hi I am looking for a temporary or permanent office/admin job but I can't find any agency that will help me as I don't have any office experience. Does anyone know any that could help me?

Do you have any relevant good qualifications instead?
If you have no experience, skills or qualifications, there isn't any agency that will risk sending you out to clients, as you won't be able to do the work.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
I got a degree in business studies and marketing, good gcse grades and a btec in business studies.
I also got three years retail experience0 -
Depends on your quals & what you are looking for.
But it is highly unlikely any agency will entertain you for a permanent position unless they get given a very rare position to work on.
I would say forget about the permanent side of an agency & hammer the doors for agency temporary work & contact employers directly for permanent work. Not Again0 -
Could you name some temporary agencies that will help me as I have tried a few and keep getting the same response that I do not have enough experience.0

For temping degrees and GCSEs don't really help. Can you touch type and use MS Office?0

Play on the customer service skills you developed while working in retail lots of agencies have CS roles- not just call centre a lot have generic admin duties too tends to be NHS, Housing associations etc.
You have to remember times are tough at the min and there are people with years of experience and quals signing up for basic admin work, in a way I think it is good that agencies are turning people away rather than registering them and giving them false hope."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -

Try the smaller independent agencies i.e not the big worldwide ones. Look on yell to find out who they are. (Obviously London is a big place)"It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -
It's really hard at the moment tbh. As a recruitment consultant, I will not currently register anyone that doesn't have experience and even then it's a couple of years minimum and a stable work history - even for temp work.
The thing is, if I don't provide the best person for the role, even if it's a 2 day role, then another agency will do it for me and i'm running a business. Clients will ask to see a CV at the moment even for someone whose coming in to cver one days work. They know at the moment, they have their pick of the candidates and they want the most experience for the least amount of money.
I'm dreading the students finishing for the Summer - it's normally easy to keep them in work over that period but last year it was impossible and this year will be the same.
I think every agency will work differently, even if it's a chain. You'll just have to keep banging on doors - eventually someone will take pity.
Try applying directly to companies, even for short term work. If the client aren't paying agency fees, they may be a bit more prepared to train someone without any experience.
Best of luck.

Thank you for your feedback. I phoned up brook street today and they said alot of companies are now taking people from the job centre and training them up and not losing agencies.
I am looking to become a filing clerk or a data entry clerk in the NHS, I have tried brookstreet in hammersmith and lifeline professionals who are agencies who employ people for the nhs both said you need more experience. Any one got any more agencies that recruit on behalf of the NHS?0
