Result!
Have had a couple of days of starting to sort out my finances and so far so good.
I phoned the bank who have been good, they have already paid back some of the charges (£200 out of £330) and I'm going to look into gettting the rest back.
I have taken out a loan however but there's method in my madness. I can't get a credit card at the mo so no 0% interest for me, but at least I can be making a regular monthly payment and see the amount reducing instead of always being in the red. As soon as I've moved house, I will transfer it to a better loan with a lower rate of interest and make extra payments on it.
Aiming to work hard for the next year on maximising income and reducing outgoings and to be debt free by next summer. Then on to mortgage free!!
Have loooked at bills to reduce:
Car Insurance currently £36 per month, have had a quote for £18!
Broadband can't get free with Talk Talk due to area I live in but can get reduced to £10, saving £7.99
Next on the agenda Electricity
Also result on child care fees, after going through child minders records, discovered that there were 3 vouchers not paid so I only owe £80 instead of £240 yipeeeeeeee.
Am now about to spend a bit of money though as daughter has shot up and needs some trousers and pyjamas, so off to the charity shop to pick up some bargins. Saw some pyjamas yesterday in a well known shop and couldn't believe they were £10! My daughter is 2.
Have decided to post monthly up as I find writing it down is very theraputic.
Thanks for the advice and see you soon with hopefully more good news.0 -
Hey Evab - good news. You sound in much better spirits, too, which is great. (Children's pyjamas are a shocking price, aren't they - the only reason I can see for it is that they make money out of parents because we're hostages to fortune.)Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j0 -
HI, thanks for encouragement. Have just been to the charity shops intown, brought 3 pairs of trousers, two top and a pair of pyjamas for my daughter for under £10 am very pleased and also extra pleased as I stopped myself spending over that amount.
By the way, I bet someone has a posting on the forum somewhere but at Banardos Charity shop they have donations straight from shops such as Boots and Asda so brand new clothes for a fraction of the cost! Bargin (that's my favourite word now!)0
