We won we put out the fire - really we did

I at lunchtime was about to nip out and some errands, Me and evan had noticed a smell of bonfire and presumed it was on the allotments behind, he went upstairs with the dog to play on his computer whilst i was gonna go,

For some reason i sat back down and started checking emails before i left, as i stood up and grabbed car keys, i saw the lady next door running and screaming over my lawn.

Opened the door as she screamed at me FIRE TONI GET OUT QUICK!

Puzzled i said where??!?!
She said the back of your house is alight!
Screamed at evan to get him and dog out to the car now, he started crying and ran,
ran though the house and opened patio doors, the back wall up the floodlight cables and sky cables was totally ablaze, it had set the potting table below alight.

neighbour and strangers( never meet before started grabbing pans and jugs and passing water to me as i threw it on the flames, this went on for ten mins between 4 of us.
By the time the fire brigade was here we had all out it out, then the shaking starts and the what ifs? what if i had left the house? what if lady nextdoor hadn't spotted it?

My electrics all went, so we have had a sparky out and bless him he didn't charge as he felt so sorry for me, Paul rushed back from London ( not easy) and has replaced the sky cables ( he can't miss his telly), below is what remains of my potting table and the smoke damage to my wall.

Electrician thinks the sun and my glass pots were the cause ??!?!?!?!?! as there isnt any issues with the floodlight and the sky doesn't carry electric.

So yes i won big time today!!!!!!:T:T:T:T:T:T:T, thanks to the strangers who's names i never got and my amazing neighbour!!!:A:A:A

thanks for all texts and msgs that calmed me down xxxxxx:A:A:A

Toni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank something you sat down and read emails!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank something for comping! Thank goodness you, Evan and the dog are ok!!!!!!!!!

Yes, can understand why sparky thinks sun and glass pots were to blame. At the right angle, the sun reflecting through the glass can start a fire. I remember reading on the Boots threads about the ladies who had bought the No 7 mirror, it has a curved face and is reflective. The amount who had left it on the windowsill in direct sunlight... wondered why the wood was burnt around the windowsills.

Just thank goodness for your neighbour, the wonderful strangers and something that made you stop longer in the house.

Bet you are really shook up but thank goodness you are all safe! xxxxxxx
