Who cares about the mirthless old bat, droning on and on and on about 'wimmins ishyoos'. Western society has moved on, Harperson is stuck in the 1970s.

BTW, if she really wanted to help, why not focus on forced marriage, girls 'dissappearin' from school to Pakistan, underage girls being 'groomed', female genital mutilation etc. amongst the ethnics minorities. Oh wait, she relies on their votes to retain Peckham!

Unfortunately the leading Labour leadership candidate has said he'll adopt it, which means when Labour get back into power I'm sure it will eventually to be extended by legislation to many spheres in the public sector, and then the private sector.

I wonder if with all them women working together, that thing would happen where there monthly cycles all coincide. We would probably end up invading Russia because someone made a comment about one of them looking a bit fat at the wrong moment.

i think she has made excellent points and i agree with her...if she is talking feminist drivel i say lovely lets hear more of it

Never thought I would say it but I agree with Fatballz. Harperson is a fool. I am female, work in a male dominated enviroment etc etc. I let my work speak for itself not my gender. If i go for a promotion or a roll change I want to get it because I am the best candidate not because I happen to have breasts.

What other quotas would you support?

Ethnic minorities, sexual orientation, religion, state/private educated, university graduate/non-university graduate, working age/retired, paraplegic/able bodied....?

How about quotas to have a minimum number people that have been convicted of a criminal offence, or a quota for people that been admitted to a mental institution at least once in their life?

    equal rights for all
    Couldn't agree more....:)
Of course, if Harperson gets her way, that means that a man with the same ability than his female counterpart, may well be disriminated against.
As there are 171 male MP's and 81 female MP's in the Labour Party, this thereby means that if Cabinet posts are shared 50/50 on a gender basis, men will be discriminated against, as there will be proportionally less cabinet jobs available to men than women even if all the men possessed more ability than than any of the women.

Glad you agree that this sort of discrimination is wrong....:D

DISCLAIMER The above post may falsly lead some MSE'ers to believe that I am under the illusion that some (or all) MP's are in possesion of "ability". :( I can assure you - this could not be further from my views, which have been further re-inforced by the latest nonsense to be spouted by Harperson.
Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious! :D
