how did they take the money?
was it dd or was it taken using your card details?
if it was dd claim it back under the dd guarentee
if it was your card you could go to your bank and explain that you never gave authorisation for those payments and see if they will reclaim it but i dont know how much joy you'd get

    # You agree that Cash Genie UK Ltd is authorised by you, once any outstanding balance becomes due, to collect this from any debit card, credit card or account information that you have provided to us at anytime. You agree that we can make these attempts in any nominations we choose and at any time we reasonably choose up until the total outstanding balance is recovered. You also agree that should you already have an outstanding balance with Cash Genie UK Ltd or any trading names such as https://www.paydayiseveryday.co.uk, you authorise us to collect the outstanding balance before processing any additional application.

It's what you sign up and agree to before they give you any money.

As soon as it became apparent they are unlikely to recover their money, they made a quick ram raid on the account to snatch it back before they lost the lot.
It's what you sign up to when dealing with high risk lenders. they know the borrowers are unlikely to repay much so have a robust mechanism in place to deal with the "all too common" fallout.

My not be nice, but then asking for a loan from these companies is equally bewildering.

The fact that you were in arrears alerted them to the possibility that you weren't going to repay them in full and on time, so they made a pre-emptive strike. Apples 2 is right - it was what you signed up to. It does seem hard, but that is why the advice on this board is to avoid these pay day loan type companies at all costs unles you are absolutely certain you can stick rigidly to the terms and conditions, and you keep it very short term.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

still doesnt change the dd guarentee that a company must notify you of any change to amount requested or date of collection so if it was dd claim it back
if it was card then your nackered
