Is it worth buying salon hair products

I have a sensitive scalp and coloured hair so have to use something non irritating. I use Simple shampoo. Do you think salon hair care is worth the extra money?

I haven't found it is. I have tried a few shampoos, conditioners and styling products from the salon and they are lovely, but I don't think they are any better than the ones you get in Boots. I got talked into buying this £12 styling wax and it was no different to any other one I have used. I wouldn't buy the mega-cheap stuff as I have found they either irritate my scalp or dry out my hair. I think the mid-range products from Boots are the best.0

I don't think they are worth the extra cash to be honest. If you have a sensitive scalp make sure that any shampoo you are using is sulphate-free so as not to dry out and irritate your scalp. I remember looking at the ingredients in the shampoo my salon were using and was horrified to see the amount of "industrial" detergents in it - since then I always take my own with me and no problems since

I can't say if its worth buying more expensive lines for a sensitive scalp. I can say that I have found more expensive lines to give better results then the high street lines and thanks to places like TK Maxx, Ebay and magazine subscription offers I have managed to get a dependance on having super soft hair. But I am sure if your scalp is sensitive there are cheaper options out there, the reason I like to use the expensive brands is they make me feel special to use, they make my hair feel totally different, they work better on my hair and I can escape things like sulfates and some silicons.
The only brand I have seen to offer help to sensitive scalps is Phyto which bigger Boots stores sell. If your happyu with the Simple range, why change it? stay with what works for you, if your not happy and can see areas for improvement, look for them, try new lines, its trial and error but if you like to experiement and watch the effects then thats not so bad. (I like experiementing and seeing whats out there, but that could be just me!)
Have you tried using Johnsons Baby shampoo and using coconut oil as a conditioner? I don't know whats causing your scalp to be irritated but if it is the products your using then maybe try them without things like scent or too many sulfates. I'd bet there are many other non fragranced or sensitive lines out there if you keep looking.
Another idea would be to try the 'CO method', this is conditioning only- i.e don't use shampoo on your hair, just conditioner, I'd be wary of using after care products on your hair as they wont be as easy to wash out without a shampoo, but without the harsh sulfates found in shampoos you may find that things like Frizz and tangling are reduced.0 -
One of the major pluses in using salon products is that they tend to contain less water and so they last longer, so they are better value for money than you think.
Shampoo lasts me 2 months generally, conditioner a couple of weeks more.
If the reasons are sensitive scalp then no, I wouldn't think that salon products would be any better, although I would perhaps give the more natural products a try. What about Lush shampoo bars?0
