  • But why would they want to? If someone is bobbing along quite happily, paying their mortgage on time, every month why would they uneccessarily cause themself work, possible legal action and potentially lose what has proven a good customer?!

    Besides, if you got a self-cert in the first place because you couldn't prove your income, why would you suddenly be able to prove at a future juncture?!

    If something comes to light to a lender that T&Cs have been broken they they are obliged to look into this in more detail

    Irrespective of whether the applicant is paying the mortgage regularly - if T&Cs have been broken the lender has the right to any corrective measures they see fit
