Lowest point: The Bank "Setting off" a personal guarantee for a limited company against my mortgage/current account with no warning, leaving me standing in the Bank with 71pence and 3 nappies to my name - and a son in tears because the bank lady told him that we would all be homeless because the bank would take our house. He also had an ear infection and I had to beg the pharmacy for pain relief because I had literally NO money.
Highest Point: The Court throwing the bank's claim for reposession out and sending them away with a flea in their ear. "She's not in arrears - you can't have her home. The defendant is paying you £330 every 4 weeks whilst on basic benefits - that is MUCH more than I would make an order for. I suggest the defendant comes back when she finds the repayments too onerus and I shall make a more reasonable determination" - I LOVE OUR JUDGE!!!. Mind you I did wonder is maybe his bank had pulled his overdaft that morning??
To try and keep the positivity I have set myself the challenge to transfer £4.13 every day into my savings account. £4.13 X 30 = £124 which is 1/1000th of my mortgage - so I am now planning our future too.
Biggest Tip: Make it fun. We only really do the things we enjoy so we have had to turn all of this fighting back from debt into a game. Get involved or challenge yourself to do daft stuff. Our last one was seeing how long you can make £100 last - Me and 2 DS, 2 house guests for a fortnight and 2 cats are on 35 days with £4.22 left to play with - been interesting really questioning those "automatic" purchases. Eldest DS is even involved keeping a running total on our blackboard.FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY DEBT FREESmall Emergency Fund £500 / £500
Pay off all Debts £10,000 / £10,000
Grown Up Emergency Fund £6000 / £6000 :j
Pension Provision £6688/£23760 -
Low Point: When a debt company was calling my WORK several times a day regarding money I owed from what was supposed to be a cash till payday loan. It got so bad that everyone in my team knew that if Fredrickson International called, I was not there, did not work there or anything but putting the call through to me!
High Point: Following advice on MSE! I plucked up the courage to get a copy of my credit report and successfully got one default removed as I did not in fact owe the money and had some incorrect late payment information amended also. Although this has not rid me of my debt, it was a big achievement for me and confidence boost that I can change my situation; although it may take a little while.:T
Tip: Writing down every purchase that you make so you can see how many ridiculous purchases you make and how much money these purchases waste. Also, taking lunch to work saves bag loads of money, and eating breakfasts, such as porridge (from home) which fills you up for a while.....:p0
