Thanks to you all for helping me. I had my voluntary bankruptcy court date this morning. I had the papers checked and paid my £600. I then went to the other area od the court sat in a waiting room for ten minutes, and then a nice man showed me that my bankruptcy had been approved and stamped and that was all. I didn't need to see anyone, talk to the judge or anything. I will be called by the Official Receiver in the "next few days". I guess that will be a bit tough as the majority of my debt is gambling related, but I will just be honest and se hw it goes.
Thanks a bunch to you all :-)
Jon.

Thanks guys - onwards and upwards as you say.
I must admit as happy as I am, I am little bit concerned that I will be getting lots of hassle phone calls at work whilst the Bankruptcy information filters through. Some of my accounts are not so bad they I get calls at work, but if there are no payments again this month I imagine I could get some hassle. It would be nice to keep it out of work if I could, but the odd call is not the end of the world.
In your experiences when the creditors find out, do they usually just make a note and let it lie? Or do they get annoyed anyway? Two of mone are Wonga.com and Quickquid (the payday loan prats as I call them). I guess they might be a bit more troublesome for me?! Hopefully not though!!
Cheers everyone!!! :beer:0 -

If they continue to hassle you all you do is quote your reference number from the court for your BR, for example no xxx of 2010 in such and such court that should give them enough info if they have the need to check your truthfulnessBR 4/10/07

Hi jon. Well done and welcome to the rest of your life. You'll probably feel a little strange for a few days until it finally hits home that you can at last gather the post without feeling sick and when the phone rings you can actually answer it! Don't worry one little bit about about your creditors. They are now history. I don't know how the ORs regard gambling. My experience is that they are non-judgemental but MAY want to see some evidence that you have now sought help. Good luck anyway and remember that the sun will be shining somewhere tomorrow!:beer:0

Well done mate...thats the first hurdle over.
Don't worry about the calls..you now have an answer for them and can guide them to someone who can help..the OR.
All the jumped up call centre jobsworth like the woman at Direct Line telling me £2 a day was excessive for my sons school dinner and "can't I make a sandwich" can whistle.0
