Claiming JSA & need van insurance.

Hi there.

I've just been offered a few hours per week for a p/t driving job (commercial van). I'm currently claiming JSA and am aware of the 16 hour limit, & first £5 deducted.

The problem is that insurance firms won't insure somebody who's umemployed. Is there a way around this?

If you're driving someone elses van, why are you insuring it? If you're not insuring it and its under the employers insurance, you'd be covered.

You won't be unemployed though, you'll either be self employed or employed if you see what I mean. Basically get the employer to set the nominal start date a week before you actually start driving or something so you can tell the insurer you are (self) employed.

The solution is where I'll sign-off and will be employed, albeit, temporarily.
