    How long do you have to go on the loan? Can you negotiate a freeze in the interest for it or pay that over a longer period?. Get evidence of your inquiries as it may help them back down if you show you have tried.

    thank you for all the responces,

    i will have a good look at all the finances to see what i can shuffle around - will leave the standing order set up at £175 for now but any "spare" money between now and the 6 months i`ll send as much as i can to them to get the arrears right down,
