Possible to exchange items at Sainsburys without receipt?

I've 8 bottles of white wine which I need to exchange for the same variety in red, but don't have the receipt. The goods were broughty a week ago as part of the weekly shop, hence the receipt was disposed of! (Doh!)

Does any one know if Sainsbury's will do the exchange, or will they be difficult?

    How did you pay for your shopping was it with a credit card or debit card? If it was, you only need to take a copy of your statement, as the law states that they dont actually need to give you a reciept as we know them in the first place, thats why a statement is just as good.

    If it was by cash well I have no idea what there like on exchanging things as I dont shop there.

    You can of course ring up the store and ask them there opinion?

  • Are they Sainsburys branded? If so, then I can't see it being a problem
  • Actually the CS guy was very helpful and swapped the wines (they weren't Sainsbury branded) with no problems! Perhaps I should have more faith in the supermarkets, despite the stories I hear!

    I have to say, sainsbury's are very good at exchanging. Last year our baby's steam steriliser broke after only a few months of owning it, we had no receipt. However, we took it back to sainsbury's who offered to swap it for a new one but there were none of the same kind left. They happily gave us an all singing all dancing 'digital' one as a replacement!

    Now THAT'S what I call customer service! Bless em!
