P60

Options
Hiya, looking for a bit of advice?
My husband has not received a P60 for 2009/10 yet?
He was employed with a company from June 2009 to Jan 2010 and remployed with them in april 2010 (after the financial year end) he was on emergency tax the whole time (long story) tax office advised him to send his P60 when he got it to claim back but hasnt received one yet. His company advise he wont get one from them as he was not employed with them at year end but i thought you got one from all companies you have been employed with in tax year?
He was unemployed at year end this year, where will he get a P60 from to claim tax back?

All help would be appreciated!

he should have received a P45 when he left the employment in jan 2010
he will not receive a P60 as he wasn't employed in april 5th 2010.

in any event if he writes to the HMRC with the full details of his income they will be able to work put ny tax refund.
  • He phoned tax office who advised to wait for his P60 to claim tax back! That was in January when he was paid off, was this the wrong information given?
We have a copy of his P45, should he get in contact with tax office again?

Clapton is correct - your husband needs to write to HMRC with his P45 to claim his refund.

I think it depends on how helpful the person on the phone wants to be. Both last year and last week I was told I would have to send my p60's before a refund could be processed. I sent it last week and today phoned to ask for the amount I will be due and was told by the helpful man the amount and that he would pass it over to the relevant team to process the refund ! I think it just depends who you talk to how they will tell you to proceed.

Did he claim JSA from Jan to April? If so, he should recive a P60u from the Benefit Office which will need to be sent to HMRC as part of his claim.
