Notifying My Mortgage Company of our separation
lightlysalted
I have recently separated from my wife. It has been reasonably amicable to date and I intend for her to remain in the property as long as she wishes and i will pay the mortgage.
The mortgage is in my name only (i.e my wife isn't on the mortgage at all). I am aware that i need to notify my mortgage company that i have moved out but does anybody know whether it is still possible for my wife to remian in the property and for me to keep paying the mortgage?
Is a mortgage company likely to kick up a major fuss about this?
Any help someone could provide would be very helpful

I would guess they wouldn't care as long as you continue to pay the repayments, after all you are liable alone. But then, thinking further / harder, does this come under BTL regs now as the person on the "residential" mortgage is no longer a resident? Will you be charging the ex rent etc? Many other rules become applicable if so. Why didn't you tell her to leave if it's your house / mortgage?
Where are you going to live, what if you meet a new partner and want another mortgage etc?
Needs to be investigated properly........ Hmmm, I'm not sure about this one... ?!ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
