Is this for you or your son?
Your son would be able to get a student rail card, you need ID and proof of enrolement for the course- ask at the rail station nearest you, it gets 1/3 off all fairs if its the same as when I was a student.
As a parent of a child at Uni, your not entitled to anything, sorry!0 -
Thanks Jennie, yes its for my son- doing his 2nd year buisness studies
at Leeds Uni so going to live at home this year and commute

nat west used to give a free rail-card to students who open their student bank account but cannot see it on their website now. Anyone know?? I suppose worth an email to ask?
My kids still get a free one each year but established students.0 -

Ditto with the RBS student account.0 -
Consider coaches too. My son saves about £30 each time he comes home for the weekend by travelling by coach instead of train. National Express have their own discount card, for students as well I think.0

Re the student accounts. I asked in branch last week at the RBS and was told the student accounts can be opened at any time, but the offers should be advertised later this month/early next month and I was told to wait til the offers are out before signing up as you won't get a railcard (or whatever) until it's advertised.
So keep watch for Martin putting up the best student account info including all the freebies!
It's only a game

worth waiting for the student offers as the railcard is for 5 years worth having!0
