E:-Unk Free Dell PC when you buy a mobile

Alright, I dont know about this company and I dont know much about mobile phones but Scancom are offering a free pc (DELL Optiplex) with several phones, from £18 per month.

http://www.scancom.co.uk/section.php/117/0

This might be relatively expensive - better informed people might know. But please tell me if its worth it because I need a new phone!

Says you have to be a business, but that could be faked. I keep 24 chickens and make home made wine so I have both an egg business and wine business when it suits :) I guess you could do worse on the phone. Try it then we will all know

These moble phone shops and retailers..... all get so much commission when they sell a contract - As they usually tie you (the customer) in for 12 - 18 months.

So really they are just spending some of this commision on you, buy giving you these free gifts etc.....

I disagree. I've had a good look at this deal over the last day or so. If you want one of the tariffs they're offering anyway (and this is the key point), it's a great deal. I've got an SPV e200 Smartphone, on a £25/month tariff (on which I almost always use up the free minutes and texts). I could upgrade to the c500 for free via the orange website, but via Scancom and the free Dell deal, it costs £95 plus VAT. If you want that tariff anyway - which I do, as it's what I'm already on - I'm getting the PC effectively for £116 inc VAT and postage. According the the Dell website, the model they're offering is £269 plus VAT and delivery - on eBay, you could source the same spec machine for somewhere around the £200-£250 mark.

To my mind, if you want that kind of tariff anyway, you're getting a half-price PC for the penalty of tying yourself into a contract for 12 months. Looks good to me.

I've just ordered one... I'll repost once I've got the phone and the machine and let you know how I get on.

    Cheers,

    Hi Ednotdave,

I can vouch for Scancom. I've bought a couple of phones from them on cashback tariffs and not had any cause for complaint.

Always found them to be very helpful and never had any problem on any cashback deals.

In fact, they're one of the first places i look when i'm after a phone deal.

If you do the sums (and want the PC) then it's a pretty good deal to me.

That's what everyone was saying about Forward Cellular a couple of months back but looks as if it's all going sour now. Been waiting 6 weeks for my cashback and no replies to emails.
