Burnt pan!

Options
Hi, please help, I have done something really silly!

Put an empty pan on top of the stove with the lid inside (didnt realise the cooker ring was on!) so the plastic handle from the pan lid has melted inside the saucepan

Is there any way I can save my pan, and remove the burnt plastic?

I know I know how can someone be so stupid!!!!!

cheers

Try boiling it again (with water in it this time!) and some bicarbonate of soda.

Is it a stainless steel interior or non stick?

Try putting it in the freezer for five mins if it will fit then tap it on the underside sharply with a hammer the plastic should fly off like a bullet!

If it won't fit then fill it with crushed ice for ten mins or so, there should be no lasting damage to the interior but I'd hazard a guess the lids stuffed.

Don't beat yourself up over it, whatever the outcome.

The person who doesn't try anything is the only one who doesn't make any mistakes. Except that not trying to Save Money Old style is the biggest mistake of all :D

I second the suggestion of reheating with water and bicarb. If you are successful, depending on the manufacturer you may be able to get a replacement handle for the lid. Well worth enquiring anyway. Cheaper than replacing a pan.

you can get a universal lid at lakeland ltd if you want to replace it or look for a cheap pan the same size at a car boot sale and buy it for the lid
