No they definitely only had a couple of applications and this was said by the HR member dealing with that job because he called after the closing date as he was concerned he hadn't received a receipt for the application which you normally do with this job.
They don't have a policy of not rehiring staff.
I agree, if thats how they want to behave then its best he doesn't go back. Just a shame and he would have loved to have his job back especially as its so hard to find one at the moment.
I think taking it further would just cause a lot of stress and I doubt anything would ever come it.
