Start by accounting for priority items; rent or mortgage, water, gas, fines, tv licence, electricity. If these are not paid for then you face consequences.
Then take out all other regular payments, but exclude food.
Then see how much is left. Then allocate so much for food and then allocate the rest to each other, equally. Keep track of these two figures weekly in 2 spending diaries (notebooks). Write your start amounts at the beginning of each week (eg Monday) and subtract for each purchase you make. If you have any over at the end of the week, carry forward to the next.
Avoid using credit cards for anymore purchases.

We've been really good in that we haven't used the CC's in about a year:T
Not having the money isn't a problem - we just need to use it more wisely. We spend about £600+ a month on nothing much i.e. clothes, take aways, eating out, down the pub, bits and bobs
But I want us to target the CC's and increase our savings.:o
