Frederickson via Arrow Global & MBNA

In arrears with two MBNA credit cards. Offered loads of times a token payment (accepted by other creditors, not this lot of course). Debts were passed to Arrow Global (or is it Global Arrow?) and now seems to have been passed to Frederickson who are a DCA.

They've sent me another letter (had a few recently asking for money) threatening court action if I don't pay up within 7 days (and I don't have a total of £18k sitting around obviously) and listing all the extra charges (court cost, solicitor cost etc) which means of course my debt has increased (never mind the interest and arrears charges).

So can I stall things, while I work out what I can do, by either asking them for a signed copy of the original credit agreements I had with MBNA or by offering/sending them a token payment? I've looked on their website as per their letter (fredpay.com) and to even see their FAQ I would need to register which I'm unwilling to do just yet. Or shall I just reply to their letter by post saying "can't afford the repayments, nothing new there, MBNA had my original SOA, get that off them, and in the meantime I still offer £5 per month and please find a cheque enclosed for that amount".

Your advice much welcomed. Thanks.

EDIT: in case it's not clear, it's Frederickson I *have* to deal with now, not MBNA although that was who the original debt was with

    MBNA again - surprise, surprise!!!
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Exactly my point. But on a more serious note, it does appear from the other threads, and my own experience, that MBNA are very quick to pass debts to DCAs, even when the debtor is trying to negociate with them.

  • Well I think MBNA don't want to deal with me anymore as I don't hear from them anymore, and anyway I certainly don't want to deal with them, so that's quite mutual.

So it's just now how to deal with Frederickson.
  • Sorry to bump this up, but can anyone advise how I deal with Frederickson on this matter? Thanks.

I would advise you to go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau, as there is more than one issue here, but they will be able to tell you what to say to these sc*m.
