The Tax refund company

Your employer 'recommends' them either because the tax reclaim company is paying them to do so, or your employer is unaware of what a scam it is. I was dealing with these people in the Inland Revenue 20 yrs ago and as tax staff we knew they were a rip-off but of course we couldn't tell taxpayers this. As otehr posters have said, its quite wrong for organisations such as unions which are supposedly set up to benefit their members to be promoting this 'servoce'. If they really cared for their members, they would get local tax people to go and make presentations to their staff, or at elast circulate proper information form the HMRC website.
You really, really dont need anyone to help you with this. The only aggravation is the length of time it will take HMRC to deal with it, but since you have waited all these years, I'm sure you can bear that. The fixed rate expense deduction of which I wrote in my first post is legally yours to claim - if you want help writing the letter, PM one of us. And I'm sure we would be happy to say that such a letter could also be sent by your partners in your store.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
