HP Voluntary Termination - MOT/Tax/Money Back?
I have contacted Black Horse with my intention to voluntarily terminate my HP Agreement. They we were fine with it, said they would send me the necessary paperwork and explained things very clearly.
But here is the problem, my car is now due for taxing and to top it off my car has just turned 3, can’t tax it without an MOT certificate.
Can I just park it in the garage, not tax or MOT it and then hand it back or do I have to shell out to put it through its MOT and then pay for 6 months tax?
Also I reached the 50% termination point last month and Black Horse still debited my account of £312 because the direct debit was still active, can I ask for this money back as I informed them of my intention to voluntary termination before the direct debit due date?
Why are things never simple LOL J

I'm not sure about the tax issue, but I do know that they will expect a MOT on it and if not they will charge you for anywork they consider outstanding on it anyway, not just mechanical, but that also includes if there are dents/scratches/rips etc, however, they probably won't get the cosmetic work done, just auction the car off so if they do foot you with a big bill, you can do no harm by making them a very reduced offer on it and see if they accpet it.
Do you know if it needs work doing for the MOT?
You might have to put tax on it, but you can always claim that back - the unused months - when you return it.
Best thing is to call them and ask what their T&C's are.0 -
Assuming it will be collected in next few days I would park in garage awaiting collection.
The day BH received your vt letter is the date accepted for vt purposes.
If the payment was due before this date then it was paid correctly. If it fell due after that date then a refund is due.0
