Latest Tesco app for the iPhone is free. Now includes barcode scanner and will check whether the item you scanned is available at the Tesco store you selected and whereabouts along with current price and if offer is on the product!
Bit of a timesaver if you're checking product prices in your cupboard before you buy

I wouldn't believe the availability on the app as the stores can not even check with 100% accuracy if things are in stock or not as someone may have it in their trolley or just bought it etc etc.
The prices and positions should be correct if you can translate where the computer says stock should be placed and the individual store layout. In my local store they have aisles 1-33 then A-Z but their computer has them all numbered. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
I realise that, didn't say it checked current stock levels, just tells you whether your Tesco selected sells it to begin with0

I found this a few days ago - seems to be good for finding the nearest Tesco if you are out and about but the scanning software seems a bit flaky. Thought it was great at first as you can scan things as you use them and make a new shopping list, but it doesn't seem to recognise everything so you can't use it as your only shopping list, which kind of defeats the object.0

I have to say that I was delighted when the Tesco app added the barcode facility. I find that if I go shopping with a list, I am less likely to buy stuff I don't need, and the barcode scanner meant that I was easily able to build up the shopping list of items I use regularly. I am not quite sure how the app is supposed to work, but I keep one shopping list for everything and tick it when I need it. If I am shopping for a particular recipe, I create a separate shopping list for it so that I can use it again at a future date.
But it doesn't show everything. I scanned some value sparkling water which I got from my local shop and the app couldn't find it. I'm not fussed as I just added some other sparkling water so it was on my list. When I shop, I'll get the value stuff.0 -

The tesco app is really useful I use it all the time when I'm in store. I've just started using one called Recipe Shopper too that came up when I was looking for the tesco app. It lets me create a shopping list and order all the bits I need for recipes through my tesco online account via the app too. Loving my iphone :j0
