Yum. Love baked camembert. I like it with a sharp, fruity sauce, I had it with a cranberry relish in a restaurant once and it was divine. It would be nice with some of the cherry plum jam I made on Tuesday....*slurp*

worked a treat thanks. didn't soak the box - did that on the trial run and wasn't too successful. Took the cheese out of box unwrapped it and popped it back in the box and re wrapped the whole thing. Put it in the oven at 140 for 15 mins, 3 out of 4 were gooey, think the 4th must have been a slightly younger cheese, however wasn't a problem as had given everyone forks as well as things for dipping! the only thing is I noticed it solidified quite quickly but that was because we were busy reading our parts as well as munching/drinking etc! so maybe not the best starter for a MM party but still good fun.
    cheers everyone

Nice with walnuts on top. Keep the top 'skin' on it - you can eat theat anyway;) Nice with HM bread to dip in it. quite filling we had it as a starter at xmas. You can freeze camembert for a few months if you ever get it at a bargain price.

You can dip all sorts of things: vegetables, bread sticks, etc.

I love baked camembert! !!!!! the cheese and pop some garlic cloves and fresh thyme if you have it into the holes. Pop it into a hot oven (200 degrees) for 5-10 minutes. I serve it with french bread, ciabatta or garlic bread but I would think you could use veg like carrot sticks for a healthier option.

This older thread might help: baked camembert

I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

  • Thanks for the reminder. I'm also "having a do" tomorrow and had forgotten the camemberts in the fridge :D I'll be having bread, bread sticks and veg sticks on the table anyway so people can choose.

    Excuse the spelling !

I've bought from my local coop a small round of camembert cheese - reduced down to 35 p!

I had thought of baking it but when I got it home realised I had no idea of at what temperature or for how long I would need to cook it. It is fairly small - the box is about the size of a dairylea triangle box and it is wrapped in paper, waxed I thinkk,

    Any ideas please?

Try http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/511743 for the baked one

I like making a leek and camembert ristotto (sometimes I use brie instead of the camembert)

Thanks; I usually use BBC Food but for some strange reason didn't think of this as a "recipe"

mutters to self - Gas mark 7 for 10/15 mins....

I tend to get risotto 'd out; though usually mushroom made with chicken stock! Great idea if I get the camembert at that price again

    Thanks
