DOE Im screwed

Hi without spending ages going through the ins and out, after having a private arrangement for 7 years, which has broken down I decided I would like to go through the CSA instead, in doing so found out I had £1600 arrears from when my lad was first born, and admittedly I didnt pay as I was still with the parent. Just opened my wage slip and £460 has gone out via a court order.
Now one day before rent is due Im screwed as not enough coin to pay it as all other bills etc gone out leaving £450 for rent, but coz this has gone out, Im off work with acute stress reaction and depression (not related to this), and ive read many similar stories, I have no probs paying arrears, but £460 is daft the debt will be paid in 4 months, I could do it in 24 months, but there is no way out now I either pay rent and no bills or pay bill and no rent, either way its the end for me!!!

I'm sure plenty of people can offer other solutions to this but personally I would recommend getting a credit card, paying the CSA in one go and paying as much back on the card as you can each month.
It sounds like it's already past the point of debate over he size of the debt with the CSA and it also sounds like the financial strain will be too much for you so I'd say find a way to get the money from somewhere else, somewhere that you can repay at reasonable terms and get the CSA out of your face.
I don't know your financial situation so maybe a credit card isn't viable but the hassle you would go through with the agency and the courts seems could probably take longer than the payment plan they've imposed and seems to me to be worse than sourcing another way to raise the money to pay them.
Good Luck0 -
tried ringing today, talked calmly and explained the situation, was told they can now get it quicker so will continue to do so, until this piddly arreas is paid off, life over me thinks!0

Phone them back and tell them you will pay it of in 2 years (its not law but they must be reasonable about it) Escalate it to a manager or failing that put in a strong worded letter of complaint.
Make them work for their money and offer you a service you deserve as it is not all about the Parent with care.0 -
You could try getting in touch with your MP as a matter of urgency - most have an e-mail address you can e-mail them on, leave your phone number etc so they can get back to you. MP's are able to use a Parliamentary Hotline to the CSA, and can be useful, as well as swift to get a response - worth a go although some are better than others.
I would also e-mail a complaint to CSA, just so you have been seen to go through the complaints procedure, of course print it off and keep a copy as evidence, you did ever contact them, also make note when you ring them, which number you dialled, who you spoke to, and what the conversation entails0 -

How do you have arrears for a time when you were still with the other parent?0 -

I wasnt married to the mother but stayed for a few years, before ultimately left her, as the only reason was my son, which isnt fair. She then said I never paid a penny for the first 2 years, I am not on the birth certificate as she left me before he was born, and then contacted me when he was born to reconcile, thus I have no rights and been stiffed, worst thing according to the CSA i only ever had to pay £38 a month, but for the last 7 years Ive paid privately to her £150 a month, AND had him every weekend and every holiday, basically every day i dont work i had him, and its killing me not seeing him.0 -
did she make a claim whilst you were separated? Did you notify them that you had reconciled?0
