Buying Contact Lenses Online

If this is in the wrong board, I'm sorry! I read the list of boards 3 times trying to work out where the best place to put this would be :D

I currently have my contact lenses delivered by post from D & A. £30 a month for 2 sets of fortnightly lenses plus solution and a container which I don't use 'cause I don't like it. I know I'm being ripped off with that sort of price and I'm finally making the effort to buy my lenses elsewhere.

Can anyone suggest a good website to get contact lenses at a reasonable price? If it helps, I'm wearing Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism lenses. I really like them so want to continue using them.

Thank you :)

You could try the Lenstore.co.uk, or any of the others on quidco.
I've had a good service from Lenstore and they do a good range of toric lenses.
  • Thanks moneypooh :) I've just had a look on Lenstore and they've got what I'm after and at a decent price. And I've been meaning to get into using Quidco too.

Another vote for daysoft - my daughter prefers them to Acuvue.
  • Thanks for suggestiong daysoft. It looks like a good site, but I can't find any lenses for astigmatism though on there. Unless I've missed something? I've sent them an email asking about this because the prices are very good!

In the meantime I rung up D&A this morning and they tried to price match against Lenstore and failed miserably ;)

A quick question for those who have gone down this online route.
The online suppliers require you to have a contact lens prescription, I think maybe it is law that they cannot supply lenses without one?
I presume you have to go to a "real" optician to have a consultation to get the prescription and this costs money. If so does that nullify the savings made online?
    Thanks.

    There's a good thread here:

(they normally move other threads about contact lenses to that one)

I paid about £25 for my test and prescription, which last around 12 months I think, Vision Express wanted to charge me 3 months upfront at £30 a month, then kick in the direct debit at £30 for dailies, whether I used them or not.
I don't wear lenses that often, so found Daysoft, and get a months supply for £10 delivered, and can order whenever I want without a monthly subscription.
So I make a hell of a saving on mine.:T
