Time these responces so the person that gets them has to work over especialy if it is is bosses. If you respond too quckly they get back to you same day and you are the place holder.
So even if you read an email and can respond quickly don't reply prepare and hold unless it is really urgent.
Also watch for the I am doing someone elses job.
Another technique is to respond with questions for more info(even if you know how to find it, let the asker do the research).
The other key is to not spread too thin, thats when things go wrong or get overlooked.
Good advice for lazy people who are not concerned about keeping their job....
This is not very helpful, particularly if you work with people at risk.
Or if you take pride in the work you do, and want to achieve something in life.
From what the OP says I think this would give her even more stress, thinking that something could happen while she move emails from a to be, and she buys time playing silly games.
Prioritising properly, and making sure it is recorded that the workload is unrealistic for one person, is the best way to go.0 -
Thanks for all the replies.
I had supervision last week and discussed all my issues and it was agreed that I can pass clients onto colleagues in a far simpler way than previously proscribed. Complained about the inefficiency and ineptitude of a colleague, which goes against my personal morals of snitching but it's now impacting on the service, not just me. So at least I have now highlighted my concerns to my new boss, and she was sympathetic.
I am doing less hours and have left some admin work (target 48hrs but now undone for 2 weeks) so waiting for the shouting to start (not from my boss but from the control freak funder).
I am prioritising direct work with clients and their safety planning.
Found a union (now need to contact them).
Went for a walk in the hills and woods yesterday and laid on the grass in the sunshine and got pleasantly lost. (Could still hear the M25 though).
Thanks again.0 -

I am also short term funded so I have been trying to prove my worth in the hope that I am re-funded. .

I think its great that you've sorted some issues; however I'd be concerned about you hacking off the funder; always keep these people happier than a happy bunny as - well - they are funding you!0 -

I've already hacked her off
I am quite patient and tolerant and am very well aware of who pays my wages, but there is a limit to how much unprofessionalism I can take.
They have given me a job to do which is basically undoable. I have had more and more work loaded onto me as they (the local authority) are trying to achieve their targets, on the cheap, by expecting me to take on three different roles.
I have struggled with this up to now but if I am unable to complete the work even with the 10-15 extra hours of unpaid overtime I do each week, then hopefully they will take notice when I stop doing it.
Thanks for your concerns.
