Template letter requesting to be told the full amount of money owed for every debt??

Options
Ive got roughly £9,000 debt spread between 2 creditcards, 2 overdrafted debitcards, and my british gas account.

All 4 cards have been passed to collection agencies about 12-18months ago.
(Im not sure the names of the agencies though as i ignored all their letters, and they gaveup trying to phone me about 6months ago)

But im almost certain that all interest has been frozen on all 4 cards now though.

And on British gas its currently £290 outstanding bill (that was from about 2weeks ago),
and they bill me every 3months,
so by the time i manage to saveup the £90 for the debt relief order itl be 1-2months,
so will be roughly £390 outstanding.

Does anyone have any link to a template letter that you can just send to all the creditors requesting to findout to the full amount owed though please?

And 2ndly does anyone know where exactly you can get teh financial funding help to get that £90 to pay for the DRO?

Thanks

I don't have a template but that would be a simple letter to put together and put that question to your original creditors.

It is important that you do your research to get the relevant reference numbers, current balances and find out who is actively pursuing each debt.

You will (as just mentioned) need a copy of your experian report as the DRO unit check your application against it.

The fee can be paid in instalments at the Post office, so you may not need help with it. However, there may well be charities local to you who could help or chip in, and your local CAB is probably your best source of information on this.

    Thanks. :o

I tried to get my credit report for free once before, however it got very messy as they said id have to fill in a form and send it off to them as they needed more information about me.

But as i only would have it free for 30-days i didn't want to risk having to pots it off, 30days pass and they still not have finished processing my info.

Plus all those 4 creditcards were taken out over 3years ago,
and since then ive not only moved address,
but have also changed my surname.

So it will be very hard for me to link my current self back into proving i am the same person. :(

Ive printed off the change of address form for the banks that the cards were with, and am going to fill it in and post it to the bank tomorrow.

However will the bank automatically update all the debt-collection agencies to putting all letters and accounts to my new current address??

And will the DRO have to write off the debt against the debt-collection agency, or against the bank??

As i don't know if the debt has actually been sold away from the bank and so no longer anything to do with them,
or if the DCA is simply working on-behalf of the bank to try getting the money and giving it to the bank.

    Thanks

You do need to sort this out with the agencies. The statutory report costs £2 and you will have to complete a form giving all your recent addresses and names that you have used. I don't think they need NI nos or deed poll details

    Thankyou. :o:beer::T

Can i also ask your help with 1 more thing please that im just curious about-

What checks are done on you at the end of the 12months after DRO started??

Like do the InsolvencyService check everyone's PAYE file as standard to check that the person hasn't start earning money from a job at any point during those 12months?

Or are there no checks done / they not physically able to check the PAYE system to see your file?

    Thanks

Thankyou sooo much for being so helpful. :o:beer::)

I don't currently have a cheque book though as i do all my banking online, or pay for services by cash,
so never need to write cheques.

However will they accept the £2 payment in coins enclosed in the letter??

Or will i have to get a postal order for it?

    Thanks
