Obtaining a mortgage on DLA?

Options
Two years ago I was awarded DLA for an indefinite period.

I've read somewhere that people on DLA can still get mortgages. I've been a full-time student for the last two years so had limited income. I'm not currently employed as such due to only finishing my degree a matter of days ago, but I am self-employed. That said, it brings in little income.

I'm hoping to find part-time work over the summer but again, I won't be earning a lot.

Is there a way I could find out whether I might be able to apply for a mortgage? I have the right to buy my current (ex council, now H.A) flat and would get a 20% discount (I need a valuation, though), I have no debts whatsoever and do have some savings - maybe enough for a deposit.

Can somebody point me in the right direction, please?
