1 Go blackberry picking & make a lovely pie or crumble
2 have a browse round charity shops
3 take up knitting, brilliant fun, you can re-use rags to knit a bathmat or a really huge mat for the lounge & if you look through the charity shops for wool items you can reclaim the wool from them, you often get the equivalent of 10 balls of yarn out of a 50p jumper, use it to knot scarves for all of your family for christmas
4 play with a ickle fluffy kitten awwwwww ( we have four of them waiting for homes & you cant help my smile when they get going)
5 enter competitions, I started Tuesday this week & won my first prize yesterday.0 -
Aww this is a lovely thread.
I love going for a walk along the posh main road near to my cul-de-sac (which is not that posh) because mostly all the houses are individual and they all have fabulous gardens. It's a lovely 40 minute or so walk to the bottom and back and I always always always feel inspired to sort the garden/house/finances out afer I have been for my stroll as I would like to think that one day......maybe one day.....I can have a nice house & garden like that. I don't feel bitter or jealous....just inspired and happy.
I also get this effect from walking or cycling around pretty villages close to me too.
I also like (when I have the house to myself), tidying up the house and cleaning so that I can then sit down with a little treat like some Green & Blacks choccy or a Danish pastry & a cup of tea, read a book or watch a DVD and I can look around knowing all the chores are done and the house is looking good. (I'm not Anthea Turner I promise.)
I also love looking through old photo albums and reminding myself of good, fun times.
Totally agree with Scottish about the clean fresh sheets on the bed too...and creeping into bed for an early night where I can lay there and dream about the way things are going to be when I am debt free...I make plans aplenty! Mmmmmm, feel like doing that now actually!
Also in agreement with the OP about the less drinking thing. Definitely with you there. Cutting back dramatically on booze helped my finances, my health & my weekends. There were more waking hours after years of horrendous hangovers that would write off a Saturday and keep me in bed till lunchtime on a Sunday usually too. One of the best things I ever did was stop drinking so much.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

I agree with all the ideas so far. I love going to the woods with OH and kids and just relaxing and laughing and enjoying us as a family.
I love crafting, baking, bubble baths, reading, playing board games with the children, running around the garden being chased by mini monsters LOL, early nights and so on.
At the moment my reall chill activty is scrapbooking, both old memories and photos and also making a dream book of what i want in my life especially those things i can work towards once i am debt free.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

nice thread! I'd add spend time gardening in your veggie patch - nothing more soothing to the brain, doesn't have to be at all expensive and saves loads because you get back lots of fresh yummy veggies you can cook for dinner!! and you get to birdwatch and "commune with nature" while you're doing it (if you like those things). It's the best... going for a walk is pretty good too.0

Thanks all! Found this again! Cantcope enjoy your week off & give yourself a bit pat on the back for coming SO far
. Suggest chilling, get a good book rather than mag (charity shop, library) as mags just give you an airbrushed depiction of the life we should be living rather than the reality! Have bubble baths, do your nails, deep condition your hair & enjoy! Queen B i love scrapbooking too but havent done any for months & MUST get started again but without the previous spending! I love clean sheets too & have a ritual! Lovely bubbles, clean PJ, face mask, hair pack & chillin and then crawl in all clean top to bottom. Bliss! Good that others feel better from not drinking so much - hard but it does work! Does anyone have an allotment? Seriously considering getting one but am unsure... have a friend with an allotment who says it saves her around £500 per year. She puts in a hell of alot of work on it though, but it really seems to keep her fit and busy. She has made some good friends over there too, they are really chummy people. Apparently it only costs her 22 per year in rent for (what I consider to be) a really big patch...or 'rod' according to her!"grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"

Just sitting over a cup of tea or coffee and having a chat with OH. Inviting my old neighbour around for a long gossip. Chatting over the garden fence with neighbours. Taking rubbish to the tip (a nice satisfying feeling getting rid of all the old rubbish). Coming on here and talking. (Goodness me, my life is all about talk). Reading, watching a good film on tv.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
