Hi all,

Ive had my lbm and it's time to sort my finances out, I just did the budget planner on here and according to that we should have £253 a month spare (which we never do) so I think a spending diary is in order.

I have to go out now but I wanted to get the ball rolling, I will post a SOA when I get back.

Like I say our money vanishes so need to do a spending diary

I am hoping to get the groceries down a bit (£40 a month is on baby milk) we've had a bit of a mare with elliot when he was first born, he was in special care and he has taken a while to settle down, used to cry loads all day lol, well he is settling now, so I feel like I can sort my shopping out better as I actually have time to plan meals etc now, so am really hopefully I can get the groceries down, although I think £160 a month isnt too bad? is it? lol

Well done on your lbm. A spending diary is a good idea - it's surprising where money just disappears!

Hello and welcome to the DFW Board

To get the full benefit of your SOA, please remember to include your APR's and the expected finish date of any loans. People will then be along to advise you, and these details will help them loads.

Remember when doing a spending diary to write down EVERYTHING as it is amazing how those casual spends add up

Good luck on your journey happy0065.gif

You've already highlighted the groceries as somewhere you are looking to cut back on, so that's a great start.

I would also think about the £50 a month you've allocated to birthdays, xmas etc. That's £600 a year and quite a large amount, unless you have a large family.

The car insurance/breakdown cover seems quite high too - we spend just about half that amount on our car.

For electricity and gas, have you shopped around for cheaper providers? Are you on a water meter, or is this fixed?

Others will come along - as it's bank holiday it culd be a little bit quieter than normal, but that doesn't mean people won't come along to help soon!

And good luck with the spending diary. It really, really helps!
