Should I remortgage and apply to port a week later or amend the offer?

Hi
I had a remortgage offer from chelsea for a 5 year fixed deal which they have now pulled. they will honour the deal of course through the validity of the offer. Our house was on the market anyway at the time.
We have had an offer on our property. We would like to borrow slightly less when we move but I have the following questions
1) would The Chelsea take my exsting offer and amend it from a remortgage to purchase. obv i have to pay new valaution fee etc or does a lender 6 weeks after underwriting have to start again?
3) is it worth remorgaging now with the agreed deal and then applying to port a week later - has anyone done this? seems a bit short term but i think it is possible!

Please could you clarify your situation.
I'm confused over the remortgaging and receiving an offer on your property, and where both Britannia and Chelsea fit in.0
