This is why I absolutely LOVE this forum, I would never have thought of using anything like that and would have ended up buying the proper cardboard bakery trays!!

If you punch holes in the sides, they are the perfect size to get the dowels through, without slipping down-and you just need to stabilize the bottom of the dowel on the apple box.I do this by sticking a ball of blu-tak (or sugarpaste) onto the box and stick the dowels in that. You can use two dowels-but if you're going as far as the OP, best to use 4-6. You can get wooden dowels from any cake decorating shop-about £1 for 6...just dont tell them why you want them (tell 'em you're stacking a cake) or they'll do everything they can to get you to buy cup cake boxes. The biggest you can get will hold 12 and at £2.50 odd for two you really will spend a fortune;)

To transport mine I picked up some lettuce boxes from my local supermarket, lined them with foil and kept my fingers crossed. Our venue was about 4 miles away and we had to negotiate several roundabouts and speed bumps - made it there with only 1 casualty

hi, can I just check, are you buying your cupcakes in or are you making them yourselves?

We are having ours made by the local cupcake shop and they are supplying them for us in boxes of six with that are suitable for transport. was worrying about how to transport them until the lady at the shop told me this!

Obviously do ignore this if you are making them yourself! Loving the Elmea box idea!
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!
