Saving pennies in London! Trying to anyway...

Can any other Londoners out there help...
I live in SE London and there just seems to be no 'bargain shops' anywhere!
I'm from Stoke-on-trent... where you couldn't move for Poundlands, 99p stores, Home Bargains, B&m...
I can't find anything like that in London...anywhere!
I really miss my Home Bargains...bargains!! i can cope without poundland but no HB!
:(
Is there another chain of stores similar in/around London? I have no idea what it is!! I don't like paying money for things!! :rotfl:

I don't live there any more, but I'd say try googling for all the stores you're looking for, you may find they are regional chains who haven't broken into the London market yet.
Also you might find some of them in areas you haven't yet got to, sarfeest London covers a quarter of the area.
Poundstretcher? We have them here, don't know about elsewhere. But we also have independent 'cheap' shops if that makes sense. Try wandering into any store which seems to have a random selection of goods on display, ours tend to have lightweight hardware outside, eg washing up bowls, laundry baskets, buckets etc. Inside there are some foods, paper goods, kitchen and hardware.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
What part of SE London do you live in? I live in Lewisham and there are loads of pound shops here. There's a load in Peckham too (I go to uni in Camberwell).0

Cool, I'll have a look round peckham
I only live in Canada Water so it's not too far at all
cheers!0 -
canada water is just a few stops from stratford - there's a shopping centre opposite the tube station with a pound shop, 99p store, wilkinsons etc0

I used to live in West Ealing and it is 99p shop central. There are at least five in the broadway, near the big Sainsburys.0

There are 99p stores in Peckham, Camberwell, Brixton and Streatham. Brixton and Streatham also have loads of other discount type shops (as well as Peckham, which someone else has already mentioned).0

If you're in Canada Water, you're not too far from the bargain shopping mecca that is Elephant and Castle (99p store, great market @ East St, various cheap shops on the Walworth Rd). It's also worth venturing down to Brixton - not only do they have a Poundland and 99p stores, if there's something you need you're sure to find it in the market. Canada Water's a bit strange because it's so close to Canary Wharf, but you'll find some good bargains a short bus ride away!2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
Walthamstow has a poundland and some other cheapish shops and also a fairly cheap market from what i remember but it was many years ago.
From what i remember Stratford as mentioned by another poster was also good for some cheaper shops. Happy hunting.0
