Abbey offset mortgage - arrangement fees

Folks :-
I currently have a first direct offset mortgage which I was very happy with due to it's flexibility. When I tried adding my fiance onto the account it got refused as she's got a poor credit rating. (We know - it's all getting paid off, but the time frame is something like 3 years before everyone is happy. I have argued the point with the bank as the account effectively has the house as security, but they're really not having any of it.)

Therefore for the convenience of having a joint account and to gain the benefits of fleibility and offsetting then it seems sensible to transfer everything over to her bank (Abbey) and set up an offset mortgage with them. Is there anyway of avoiding the £300 to £500 arrangement fees?

Thanks

Kevin

I doubt they will waive their fees. As she has a poor credit rating I would also suggest getting it agreed with Abbey first to make sure they are happy with the situation.
