Feel like it can't get any worse

Now, I will try to keep it short.
I am currently feeling like it can't get any worse and don't think it ever has been(although I am sure there will be people worse off then me)
I am arguing with my fiance who I live with because of my problems and I am acting a complete tit and even though I know I am I can't seem to stop it :(
Right SOA time.
Income weekly wage at the minute stands at 270 take home so 4 week month will be 1080, 5 week month will 1350.
Out goings.
Dad(for loan he took out for me 3 years ago to help "consolidate" 120-150 ends oct 08
Rent 300(inc bills)
Blackhorse finance 50 ends aug 08- was for a hgv course which I have passed first time and have already got a job lined up to up my wages by around 50 pounds a week
Welcome Loan 100-125(25 a week) ends nov 09(another consildation:rolleyes:)
Car Insurance 50(can't get cheaper as I have 3 points)Phonebill 40
Additions 50(If I go any less it wont be worth it) balance 440
Littlewoods 25(as above) balance 160
GMB Union 10(do really need this working in transport industy)

Total in coming 1080-1350
Total outgoing 705-760
Leaves 375-590
Now this all looks quite easy and hunky dory but I am always behind with things, I am currently behind on
dad 370
G/f 340
NTL 160(As soon as this is paid I am canceling all together)
Total 870.
G/f doesn't need money back right away but I have spoken to my dad and he is saying he wants it back in 60 pounds installments starting this week which I cant do as most of my wages for the last two weeks will be going on rent and 2 of my loans. leaving me with about 40 pounds each week for essentials like diesel, shopping etc.
My g/f has been granted a c/c with lx direct and wants me to stick the mney I owe my dad on there and also pay ntl as it is interest free on purchases(not cash) just to help me breath for a while but I don't want to as she is already having a go at me for wanting to to Huddersfield to watch Forest on saturday. I know she is right but I can't imagine living like a hermit however long it takes to clear up as I have always been an "out at the weekend lad" which has probably caused more of this then I realise. Anyway sorry for waffling. My current debt outstanding is
Additions 440
Littlewoods 160
Loan with dad 3300
Welcome 2k+
Blackhorse 1200
G/f 340
Total 7,400
Added to this I owe my parents about 2,500-3k which I have borrowed over the last few years. They want it back when I am on my feet properly but they aren't in any hurry for it.
If I can just get straight I know I can do it and I want to pay everything off by at least the begining of 2008 but motivation is very hard when my mates are ringing me to see if im going to football and then drinking after to
I am getting paid every week with not enough money to go round to sort it all out this is why it's stressing me out so much. My credit history is so bad the last loan quote I got was 100% so I can't sort it myself with out my g/f help but I don't want it coming betwen us.

Hugs to you :grouphug:, GHE, and well done for putting all of the above down in black and white.:T

I don't really know enough to offer advice on your situation, but wanted to "bump" this thread back up to the top (before it dropped off onto page 2 and got lost and you thought nobody cared about you;)), where I am sure some of the DFW "experts" will be along shortly to offer suggestions.:D

    Keep your chin up!

Hello! Poor you, you seem to be really fed up with your situation at the moment. The main thing is, you've come to the right place for advice and support.

My initial thoughts are - first of all, based on what you've said so far, you have a good disposable income each month to throw at your debts. Therefore there shouldn't really be a need to get behind on things (getting behind with companies like NTL can have a negative impact on your credit rating, so I think this should possibly be a priority (from the sound of things, you could possibly clear this in one month from your disposable income?).

Secondly, have you told your Dad that you are struggling financially? Perhaps you could arrange to catch up with your repayments over a slightly longer period?

Also, being paid weekly is difficult when your standing orders/direct debits etc are monthly. You need to sit down and work out a proper monthly budget - if you have a lot of direct debits leaving in the same week, could the dates be altered to spread them more evenly across the month - if not, you will need to ensure save enough on the weeks when you have less going out to make sure you have enough to cover the weeks when you have more going out. (Hope that made sense?)

I understand that you want to still go out with mates etc, but while you are behind on payments, you just can't afford it - it's not forever, and most people who come on these forums DO still manage to have a bit of a life, we are just realistic about what we can afford to do.

Starting a spending diary is one really good way of seeing exactly how you are spending your money each month - it would show you where that extra £375 - £590 goes and will help to highlight areas you can cut down.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other suggestions for ways you can cut back and re-organise - good luck with everything and take care of your girlfriend, she sounds lovely!

    Love Snaggles xx

  • Hi There,

Firstly you say you are living with someone at the moment. When you are under the same roof you should be sharing the overall financial burden. This results in fewer rows and fall outs over money.

According to my calculations you have £56.93 per week to spend on anything else. That means booze, food, Notts Forest etc. I suggest you write this amount (£56) in a book each Monday and keep a list of everything you buy for yourself. If you have any over , carry it forward to the next week. Forget your bank balance.

In the following calculations, I have assumed a £50 per month to NTL (for say 3 months) and £130 per month to your dad.

    income weekly monthly
    self 270.00
    partner

    total 270.00 0.00
    0.00 divided by 4.33

    270.00 total weekly income

    spend weekly monthly
    rent/mortgage 300.00
    council tax
    elec
    gas
    water
    secured loans
    TV licence
    fines
    dad 240.00
    b horse 50.00
    welcome loan 25.00
    car ins 50.00
    phone 40.00
    additions 50.00
    littlewoods 25.00
    gmb 10.00
    ntl 50.00

    total 25.00 815.00
    188.08 divided by 4.33

    213.08 total weekly spend

    Start= income - spend = 56.92 per week
