in Cutting tax
Hi guys.
I need some advice. I did a bit of mystery shopping a few years ago but didn't earn much. I was already registered a self-employed because i used to do the occasional bit of freelance work in the television industry.
I have received a letter from HMRC asking for proof of my self-employed income from my tax return for the year 2008-09. i only earned £35 profit all year from 6 MSing jobs and none from other self-employment because i didn't do any freelance work that tax year. I have kept the receipts from the mystery shopping jobs i did but i can't find how to send them proof of my payments from the MSing companies.
my question is how do i send the tax office the information they need? thanks for any help you can give.

How were the paymets made to you? If they went through your bank, you need to send them your bank statements. Otherwise you could ask the MS companies for a letter showing what they paid you for that year. Although that doesnt prove there were no other MS jobs (a tax inspector's delight).£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
