What have you spent today, Tuesday 22nd August?

hi all, sorry if I've gone completely bonkers and there's already one of these threads running for today, but I couldn't see one, amazing since it's so late in the day... but there you go.

Anyway, I have spent nothing, my second no-spend day in a row :T :T :T

Just spent about £8 in Morriosns, but got plenty of reductions, so not too bad. Other than that just gave dd £1.50 for dinner money.

actually I forgot to say, it was a pretty difficult day from the no-spend point of view, because I neglected to take enough food with me to work, didn't eat breakfast so ate what I had right away, then about 4pm got unbelievably hungry (as well as being bored) - for some reason someone who sits closeish to me got sent some free muffins but didn't bring them over to us, handed them round to his immediate workmates ... I nearly went over there and rugby-tackled him with the aim of running off with the whole hamper (but didn't).

Moral: plan better when taking food to work ... it's interesting though, I find not-spending harder than spending when you get in particular moods because spending feels active, it gives you a momentary buzz and makes you feel like you did something, however minor. Whereas not-spending feels passive: nothing changes, you don't change anything. The day just goes on. Or that's how it feels superficially... I think I used to spend carelessly when I felt bored and flat, the "life's not going anywhere" feel. And in fact, even though I've twigged to all that and am trying to be frugal, if it hadn't been a SPECIFIC no-spend day where I planned to post tonight that I'd spent nothing, I would still have marched straight out and bought myself some chocolate or something this afternoon. But I didn't! And I'm pleased I didn't. Anyway, long rant, apologies.

    Nothing

I spent nothing and that feels pretty damn amazing. In fact it's the second day in a row.

It actually feels like I've gained because I was supposed to be going to Manchester for this weekend (it's Mardi Gras) and I have cancelled - I can't say i have saved money because it would have gone on the credit card - but I have stopped that little bit more extra debt.

I am trying to get up the courage to do my SOA and so any little encouragement right now feels great. Every time I think about the size of my debts right now I feel sick. Physically sick. I'm struggling with how long it has taken for me to face up to what's going on and I know until I do the SOA and sort the bills and debts that I can't truly say that that has happened.

Just read Moozie's thread and have been inspired by that - now all I have to do is write my SOA and get on with it. Oh, and I've just made my lunch for tomorrow so am feeling good about that

    Cheers to MSE

well to spoil the no spend day trend we seem to be having...i spent lots...again!

realised almost too late that all my interview type clothes got chucked cause i was too skinny for them :D so a mad dash to primark later and i'd spent £9 on a new pair of black trousers and a white shirt (cool and crinkly so i don't need to iron it :j )

and after the interview i did my weekly shop for £11.69. heaps of fruit and veg and non wheat type stuff.
