Fifa 09 for PS3 + Wireless Controller = £11.49 @ Argos

Morning all.

Argos are currently offering certain 1/2 price accessories for the PS3 when you buy 1 of the selected PS3 games.

However instead of going through at 1/2 price, they are showing at checkout for £1.50. You have a choice between a wireless controller & a dual charger station.

The cheapest game I could find was Fifa 09 for £9.99.

I do remember there being a similar thread about this a while back but I thought that this deserved a new thread as I believe the prices are slightly different now.

Before everyone runs off to buy these remember that fifa 09 has been out since October 3rd 2008! They wont be selling many copies of that game. The only reason argos still has it is because they don't realise how quick games lose value. Fifa 10 wont even be selling many as thats been out since oct 09. The only reason that'll be keeping some value is that the next games release date hasnt been announced. And as for the controller, most ps3 gamers i've spoke to have said there is no substitute for the official controller when its comes to this console. All others are inferior quality and tend to break. Check the argos reviews(and they are usually from playing with it for 10 mins)

This way just me giving my opposing view. Do as you wish now people.

Controller also runs off AA batteries rather than being charged up like the proper controller. I'd avoid the controller for that reason.

Also own a similar charging station to that one and stopped using it because it was forever reporting that the controllers were charged however the second we tried to use them with the PS3 the PS3 would complain the battery was flat. Plug the controller back into the station and the red charging light would come on and in a few seconds change to green to show fully charged. Reverted to using the supplied USB lead instead to charge up

It just came up for £1.50 a second ago for me. Only works on some games though, and its a shame we already have every Fifa game!

Managed to get this yesterday, we opted for Farcry 2. When in and of course had to go to the till, showed the email stating £1.50 on. The manager did her stuff and then an extra 50% came off or 75p in the case of this so extra bonus.

Then the next surprise was when I collected the item I did not actually get the wireless controller, I got the mega pack (standand, controller, remote, HDMI cable). It appears this pack has the wireless controller store code on it and its wrong. So extra bargains all round.

A while ago my bro went to buy the wireless controller and he got the mega pack too, this was not in conjunction with any other deals just a solo purchase. He bought it from a store miles away from me so keep an eye out!
