Or the other option is to try and get all that queezing money back, and reduce the currency expansion. That would get inflation back down to its target and interest rates could stay artificially low a bit longer.
Oh wait they are going to print even more currency in more queezing!0 -
Too important a story not to feature high up on the board.
This is the crucial factor which will restore house prices to the levels they would have reached had all Labour's emergency measures, pre-election, not been imposed.
About time too.0 -
You're grasping at straws if you think interest rates at 3.5% will cause a housing crash."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0

But it is the OECD saying it not the BOE, and it is the BOE that will be calling the shots.
They (the BOE) have been good a calling the shots so far, the only thing they did wrong was possibly not drop rates earlier.
I also agree even if the rate did go up to 3.5% it is unlikely to have any impact on house prices. It would lower the negative HEW we have at the moment though.
PS OP do a search this tis the 4th time in 24 hours this has been posted.

And you're grasping at straws if you think it won't.0 -
Comedy at it's best.
The BOE have been about as accurate as me in the lads toilet after 10 pints!
I'd imagine it's difficult to locate the glory hole when so inebriated?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Well what happend to anarchy and the 70% crash?
If you don't agree state what has been done wrong? But as far as I can tell things are far better than what the most bearish were predicting so would that not equal calling most of the shots correctly?0 -

To be fair to the OECD they seem usually pretty on the money with their recommendations and predictions, having said that I don't think IRs hitting 3.5% in 18 months time would exactly be earth-shattering for House Prices, that's if it even happens.0
