sale completion advice

i am in the process of selling my house and buying another. my buyer has got the house considerably cheaper, has asked for gifted deposit and caused a few problems all along.
I am now at the stage of arrranging echange and completion dates but my buyer has turned round and said he has not got the deposit funds and cannot get them until a month down the line.
i have spoken to my solicitor and they have said there is nothing they can do to ensure he meets the agreed date a month down the line. i therefore have a month of uncertainty ahead and wondered if anyone had any suggestions to make the dates and deposit more guaranteed.
