New Northern Rock Mortgage

Options
Hi

I'm moving house and my searches and various people (brokers/mortgage consultants etc.) are all (those who have whole of market to search in) are telling me that the 2 year fixed at 3.09% with Northern Rock is the best deal, even with a £1966 arrangement fee added, it does over the two years work out financially the best deal by about £6-700.

Is NR a safe place to get a mortgage these days?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

DC

What do you mean? If you were giving them money then safety might be an issue, but if you are borrowing money from them why do you care if they go bust or not?

Yes, it'd be safe to get a mortgage with them, but a 2 year fix seems like a bad idea to me, particularly with the hefty fee. You'd be better looking for a longer term fix.

Agreed with the above - £2k to fix for two years? Madness.
