Roman/celt costume idea's.

Dd came home with a note today saying her class are having a roman/celt party this Friday and they need to dress up.

Does anyone have any idea of costumes that are either cheap or can be made easily? Any help is most appreciated. :A

Blimey - Roman? How about a toga? or something along those lines?

Celt? - Paint her face blue and plait her hair.

Get a non fitted sheet and make a toga with a leather belt.

Funny you should mention this, my dd is having a Greek day on Friday, and i am going down the toga theme, using a bed sheet as the base then going to make a cloak with some material i can hopefully blag from my sister in laws wedding shop. I plan to make a headress out of an old wire coat hanger and some plastic leaves, and a belt and bracelets from gold twine :0)
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

    Total £56

My son went as a celt last year, we just used some old brown jeans, I had an old beige suede sleeveless top which was put over a t/shirt and fastened a brown belt round it. he also wore a black cape (from hallowean) and a skull type hat. he carried a plastic sword and money bag. Oh and we painted a moustache on him with face paints.

Thank you for all your great ideas, she has decided she wants to go as a celt. I've found an old dress that would do and a white top to go underneath. I just need to hunt out an old belt now. Most of the ones she has are covered in some sort of sparkles. I may have to borrow one from her brother. :o

I really wish they'd give us more notice about these things. Thanks again :)

Yes personal bugbear lack of notice. We as parentsx have nothing better to do than find a celt costume in 2 days etc. or run to the supermarket to get the ingredients for cookery lesson with 1 evenings notice, grrrr, and no surprisingly when this happened regulary to me it wasn't DS not passing on info.
